That depends on where you live, the weather conditions and so forth. Use your search bar and compare systems. Call 800 #’s and speak with the reps they will have the info. Shop around… or buy a BIG dog…it’s a motion senored device that sounds like you have a fierse dog in your house.
OK I think you are asking about a monitored intrusion detection system. The way you worded your question it sounds more like you are asking about the least expensive monitoring service for an intrusion detection system that you already own or have already decided on.
You see there is the system itself, that is the stuff that is installed in your home to detect an intrusion by a burglar, or a fire from smoke detectors, & then there is the monitoring service that receives signals from that system in your home, & brings about a dispatch from the appropriate authority.
I know that many companies in my industry have blurred the boundaries between the two by offering a free alarm system when you sign up for monitoring with them. The problem is that you pay far more than a fair price for the monitoring because coupled with the monitoring fee there is a premium for the “free” alarm system.
My 1st suggestion for you is to stay clear of the “free” alarm marketers. The reason I say that is because you only sign a contract for monitoring. Yes they supply you with an alarm system in your home but it’s usually a poor representation of an alarm at best, & if it never does the job you expected it to you will have no recourse. That is because of the giant loophole you volunteered to give the alarm company if you sign up for a “free” alarm. You see, you are only paying for monitoring, & as long as their monitoring station is capable of receiving a signal from your system then you are getting what you payed for… MONITORING!
If the alarm system never works you can’t sue the alarm company for any damages because you NEVER PAID FOR IT, so you have no damages in the eyes of the courts.
I recommend that you locate an independant alarm dealer in your area who will sit down with you & design a system that suits your needs & lifestyle in your home, & will sell it to you outright. You can find one in your local yellow pages or through the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association in the USA at: http://www.alarm.org/
or The Canadian Alarm & Security Association in Canada at: http://www.canasa.org/
As for monitoring that should be a separate fee from the cost of installation. There are many monitoring services across North America, & their fees range from less than $10.00 on up to more than $35.00 per month depending on the services, & quality of those services provided. Do some research, & compare apples to apples. Start by comparing each companies fee for minimum basic monitoring service & go from there.
